with The Harbour Gallery Jersey

Thursday evening writing workshops at The Harbour Gallery Jersey, where artists' talks inspire short stories and poems, with a chance of publication.

The Harbour Gallery Jersey hosts a series of evenings for putting pen to paper after being inspired by art work.

The sessions offer a writing experience in the setting of The Harbour Gallery Jersey. Writers, whether aspiring or experienced, attend a short artists' talk, then write a story or a poem inspired by a work of art. At each session two artists speak, giving the writers a choice of paintings to focus on. The organisers welcome participants' interpretations, and there is an option for publication too.

Sessions:

1st October (National Poetry Day)

19th November

21st January

25th February

Visitors can come to just one session or all of them. Sessions run from 6.30 to 9.00pm on a Thursday, with a complimentary drink on arrival.

The artists explain the techniques behind their work. Writers then have 45 minutes to draft a response or story of around 200 words. At the end, the artists reveal the original inspirations behind their work. After editing, writers have the option of submitting their pieces for inclusion in a book or on postcards.

The evenings are run by Art in the Frame Foundation and The Harbour Gallery Jersey, Jersey Charity no 21.
