Moonlight Walk to Seymour Tower

with Jersey Walk Adventures

On the Visitor Map
Moonlight walks to seymour Tower

A guided moonlit walk across the exposed seabed to Seymour Tower, with rock pools, nocturnal marine life, starry skies and occasional bioluminescence.

This nighttime walk to Seymour Tower leaves the lights of Jersey behind and heads out beneath the rays of the moon. Visitors enter a unique nighttime intertidal world, accompanied by two experienced local guides.

The guides share the history and remarkable marine life of the area on the walk one mile offshore to Seymour Tower. As the tide recedes, the group walks into a seascape where the reflections of stars twinkle in the rock pools, along with the occasional sparkle of bioluminescence*.

On a clear night there may be a glimpse of a shooting star, the constellations and perhaps a planet. Underfoot, marine creatures scurry about on nocturnal missions while walkers' figures cast moon shadows. On the brightest moonlit nights it may even be possible to read a newspaper, though the marine life is perhaps more newsworthy.

The walk lasts 2½–3 hours and covers three miles (4.8km) across easy to moderate terrain. Wellington boots can be hired to keep feet dry.

*Note: the best displays of bioluminescence occur on nights with little or no moon. All dates for the seabed and bioluminescence walks are listed on the organiser's website.
