Intertidal Walk to Icho Tower

A four-hour guided walk across the exposed seabed to a remote tower and seabird haven, possible only on the year's lowest tides.

Accessible on foot only on the lowest tides of the year, this remote tower sits atop a small islet and is a haven for seabirds. The walk passes through shallow pools and streams and past oyster beds, with time to enjoy the quiet and the natural environment that is exposed as the tide recedes. Duration: 4 hrs. Terrain: easy to moderate. Distance: 5-6 km.

This guided walk is not suitable for young children. A good level of fitness and the ability to keep up a good walking pace over several hours are required. Walkers should be prepared to get their feet wet, and wellies are recommended, especially during the cooler months. Icho Tower is an iconic landmark in the seascape of Jersey's south-east coast. The route out to it crosses the exposed seabed, giving a sense of the courage of the masons who weathered storms and isolation while building it.

Wellies and waterproofs are available free of charge and must be reserved during the booking process. More information about the walk and bookings are available online. Restrictions apply.
