Bergerac Tour: Mystery of the Stolen Jewels
with Jersey Uncovered

A half-day guided mystery trail through Bergerac locations in Jersey's west, following clues to find Marilyn Monroe's stolen pearl necklace.
Jersey Uncovered invites visitors to solve the mystery of the stolen jewels. The task is to unravel a series of cryptic clues that lead around the west of the island, visiting well-known Bergerac locations with a Jersey Uncovered guide and driver.
The Jewels
Marilyn Monroe was adored by men and women across America during her heyday. A little-known fact about her, however, is that despite her glamorous lifestyle and many admirers, she never owned fine jewellery of her own.
The single genuine piece of jewellery she finally received was a single-strand Akoya pearl necklace from Mikimoto, Japan, bought for her by her husband Joe DiMaggio. By chance, that necklace has found its way into the hands of a local collector fascinated by Marilyn, and is on display in his private collection, seen only by a few close friends and his housekeeping staff.
The Mystery
Last week a shocking discovery was made. On returning from holiday, the collector realised there had been a break-in. At first everything seemed to be in place, but it was later revealed that Marilyn's necklace had been stolen.
The Mission
Guests follow cryptic clues around the west of the island with their Jersey Uncovered guide and driver, visiting Bergerac locations along the way.
Over the morning, more clues are uncovered at each location, helping guests piece together the story behind the missing pearls and, if they can, discover the location of the original necklace at the end of the trail.
The tour is a half-day outing across the west of the island, taking in St Aubin (including Bergerac's famous watering hole), the Noirmont Point bunker systems, St Brelade's Bay and beyond. It offers entertainment, opportunities for photographs, and a good measure of local history and mystery.
The Cost
Private half-day tour (for 2 to 6 guests): £220 flat fee
Driver and car (4 hours at £45 per hour): £180
The Dates
Scheduled tour dates are to be announced, and private tours can also be arranged.
